AT&T Athens Council TelecomPioneers
Happy Spring everyone!
The Pioneers had a guest speaker March 19th. He is a former Chapter President, Don Wright. He and his lovely bride Wilma celebrated their 51st Anniversary with us. Don spoke about many things and entertained our folks. Don also wrote the “Just An Old Telephone Man” book. I heard a rumor he has another book in the works. We thank Don very much!
We may have a guest speaker for April and May will bring us to a program on Radon testing. All those attending will receive a free Radon kit. The Columbus Pioneers sent a box of beautiful calendars that were shared with all those who attended the meeting. Betty & Pete Argo and Betty & Billy Patton were host/hostesses for the March meeting.
A.C. Kelley was honored for his work heading up the Blood Drives held at the Navy School. He was given a t-shirt. Also either will receive or have received a t-shirt are: Keener Eidson, Bobby Kinman, Mike Jackson, Mark Paul, Johnny Ware, & Ray Herman Dove. They have worked at the Navy School Blood Drives. Thanks all!
Thanks to those who worked the Food Bank “Empty Bowl” fundraiser for the Athens Food Bank. Those who worked: Doris Dawson, Ruth Lokey, Clara Stewart, and Cheryl Kennedy. This was during our meeting time, so their efforts were much appreciated.

Mark your calendar for a Yard Sale/Picnic May 31st @ Harris Shoals Park in Oconee County. We need items to sell (please bring prior to 7 a.m. to the park) and people to buy the items. This is 7 to noon. As soon as we can get things ready, we’ll have a picnic afterwards for Pioneers and their families.
